Sarah & Frankie Sutherland 19 June 2022

Sarah & Frankie tied the knot with an incredible outdoor ceremony on the Jupiter Lawn and Reception in the Radcliffe Room on Sunday 19 June 2022. We're sure like us, after reading this post, you'll be dreaming of an outdoor ceremony!

Read on to find out how they fell in love, chose their suppliers and how the Maid of Honour, Leanne, turned into a cardboard cut out...

So, how did you two meet?

We met at work, but it was only when I (Sarah) left, that Frank asked me out on a date

When did you know they were ‘the one’/ how did they pop the question?

Frank proposed on the very first lockdown day – Saturday 20 March 2019.

There were 2 plans he had in place to take me but COVID had other ideas! So it ended up in our kitchen at home, in candlelight with our English Bulldog George watching on.

What was the biggest MUST HAVE for your wedding?

We love music so it was important we had live music as much as possible. The Sax player during the ceremony and drinks reception really created the atmosphere we wanted. For the wedding breakfast I knew flowers and the lighting was going to be very important, I loved the candlelight and how it really lifted the gold details on the table.

Other than saying ‘I do’ what is the most unforgettable moment from the day?

Our first dance – it was to John Ledgend ‘Stay with you’. The lyrics mean a lot to us and really describe us as a couple. It felt like we were there on our own which was very special.

Which supplier was a real stand out for you? The unsung star who deserves a special mention.

There are a few contenders here! I think we would say Denise from Rudding park – she was exceptional on the day, and also the few days leading up to the wedding as we had a couple of other events pre wedding day. She made everything run smoothly and we will always remember everything she did for us.

What was it in your eyes that gives Rudding Park the WOW factor?

This is also difficult! As soon as we went for our first visit we had such a special feeling from there. The staff are incredible and nothing is too much trouble. The grounds are beautiful – the Kitchen Garden is incredible. We love that there is no need to leave there when we visit as they have everything onsite from a cinema to spa and golf.

How did you style the space? Did your wedding day have a theme?

Our wedding was very traditional, lots of whites with greenery in the flowers and gold accents in the table wear. We wanted everything to be in the Radcliffe suite so no one had to leave, and the bar they set up was perfect.

What is your funniest memory from the day?

My Maid of Honour, Leanne, is stuck in America due to visa issues so couldn’t make it. However, she made sure she wasn’t missed and sent a life size cut out of herself which was present at the wedding breakfast and made it onto the dancefloor throughout the night!

What’s your best advice you could give to couples who are about to tie the knot at Rudding Park?

If you can have the ceremony in the grounds, absolutely do it! It is so beautiful and if the Yorkshire weather holds out it will be incredible!

And finally, we’d love to hear about your experience with Rudding Park…

The whole experience from start to finish has been one we will remember for our entire lives. Lyndsey has been fantastic and was so helpful when COVID postponed our day for a year. The whole postponing process was made so much easier by Lyndsey, and she was great at getting our new date reserved quickly. The entire staff are fantastic, from front desk to spa therapists are all so helpful. The food and beverage team were great, and Conor at the Bar was amazing with our guests, he can make a great Cosmo too! Rudding Park will always be a very special place to us, and we are already planning a weekend away to come back and stay. We cannot ever thank everyone enough for giving us the day of our dreams, Thank you.
