Lauren and Andy Friday 26 August 2022

Lauren and Andy tied the knot on Friday 26 August 2022 with a ceremony in the chapel followed by a beautiful reception in the Radcliffe Room.

Read on to find out how they met, how the proposal didn't quite go to plan and what their advice would be for your big day.

We hope you feel inspired...

So, how did you two meet?

Andy and I had been at mutual events since 2010 and in 2014 I finally agreed for Andy to take me on a date... and it went from there.
Three children later, Mia, Lola and George and our dog Gracie.

When did you know they were ‘the one’/ how did they pop the question?

We had our first daughter in 2015 and in 2019 Andy proposed. We went for dinner at The Pine Marten, one of our favourite places for tea and Andy took Mia to the toilet and showed her the ring. Mia came back to the table giggling, saying "can I tell her". Obviously Andy said no. At that point I did wonder what they had been up to. Anyway we continued to enjoy our meal and time there and when walking back to the car, Andy got down on not just one knee but two knees in the rain and asked me to marry him. Mia then got upset as she wanted to give me the ring, it was such a funny but classic scenario and we wouldn't have had it any other way.

When Andy asked my dad for my hand in marriage my dad said my mum was absolutely over the moon and was jumping for joy in the background whilst my dad and Andy were on the phone. Sadly we lost mum in February 2022, the wedding day was extremely emotional for that reason and Mum was there in spirit and we know she would have loved every minute.

What was the biggest MUST HAVE for your wedding?

The thing we wanted the most was for everyone to enjoy themselves and to create and unforgettable time.

Other than saying ‘I do’ what is the most unforgettable moment from the day?

The fireworks. We kept them a secret so it was a spectacular surprise.

Which supplier was a real stand out for you? The unsung star who deserves a special mention.

It's so hard to say because they were all fantastic. Tim the magician did some mind blowing tricks and Trio Vivo were magical in the chapel. Our band were outstanding and had everyone on the dance floor. Rachel got some incredibly beautiful pictures and Jade gave us the gift of reliving our day over and over again.

What was it in your eyes that gives Rudding Park the WOW factor?

The food, the service, the rooms and the relaxed atmosphere, we always feel very comfortable when at the hotel.

How did you style the space? Did your wedding day have a theme?

Neutral florals, eucalyptus and magical lights; it was like a fairy tale!

What is your funniest memory from the day?

Dancing to Big City Life right at the end, it was so much fun, letting our hair down and dancing to our hearts content with our friends.

What’s your best advice you could give to couples who are about to tie the knot at Rudding Park?

Enjoy every moment, don't stress the small stuff and have faith that your day will be exactly how you want it to be.

And finally, we’d love to hear about your experience with Rudding Park…

Our experience was unforgettable, we had the most amazing day, the food was incredible and our guests all had a fantastic time. We feel so special returning to Rudding every time and we can't wait for the next time that we do.
