Charlotte and Jonathan Sunday 18 December 2022

Charlotte and Jonathan tied the knot on Sunday 18 December 2022 with a beautiful ceremony and reception in the Radcliffe Room.

Their love story started on a date - with someone else!

Two children and one panicked proposal later, the wedding planning began. The pair tied the knot eleven years and one month after they 'officially' met, surrounded by their children, family and friends. It was a magical day, celebrating two become one!

With hints of red, white and festive foliage, the space was transformed into C&Js 'must have' winter wonderland wedding.

Read on to find out how they fell in love, chose their suppliers and how a very cute little someone helped with the vows!

We hope you feel inspired...

So, how did you two meet?

We have known of each other for years but met officially whilst Jonny was on a night out and I was actually on a date….with his friend. We hit it off and 11 years and 1 month later we got married.

When did you know they were 'the one'/how did they pop the question?

He asked me when I was 5 months pregnant with our son. My then 3 year old daughter wore a T-shirt that said ‘Mammy will you marry daddy?’ and came in whilst I was packing for the 3 of us to go to Dublin the next day, mine and Jonny's favourite place. Jonny was going to propose to me there but panicked that he was going to get searched or stopped at security and blow the whole thing, so a home proposal it was and I think it was pretty perfect.

What was the biggest MUST HAVE for your wedding?

Christmas wedding was a must!

Other than saying 'I do', what is the most unforgettable moment from the day?

Having our children at our wedding and sharing our special day was a dream come true. When they joined us towards the end of our first dance it was a pinch me moment.

Which supplier was a real stand out for you? The unsung star who deserves a special mention.

Rose and Spade made my day. When I walked in to the room and saw it set up, it took my breathe away, the centre pieces, the top tables -  just WOW! The Christmas trees behind the top table were amazing. It felt like Christmas time in Narnia. An absolute wonderland.

What was it in your eyes that gives Rudding Park the WOW factor?

The building for sure, the room I got married in with columns, bay windows etc.. the library is such a beautiful room too for a small intimate wedding.

How did you style your space? Did your wedding day have a theme?

I wanted a Winter wonderland. Definitely Christmassy but tasteful.

What is your funniest memory from the day?

My funniest memory of the day had to be the speeches and Kit (my son) standing in between me and Jonny for the whole ceremony as if it was the 3 of us getting married.

And finally, we'd love to hear about your experience with Rudding Park....

The team at Rudding Park where amazing. So helpful and understanding. Made me feel so much better.
